July 15, 2020.
Dear Friends and Supporters of the ISI Ministry at Princeton,
Greetings in the name of our Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ!
As you know, for many years the Garage-Give-Away in early September and the Monthly Friendship Dinners during the academic year, both held at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Princeton, and the Christmas Banquet at the Montgomery Evangelical Free Church have been mainstays of the ISI ministry to international students and scholars studying or visiting Princeton University, the Princeton Theological Seminary and the Westminster Choir College.
It is with sadness in our hearts that, after thinking, praying and consulting with the Core Support Team at Princeton a decision has been made to CANCEL the Garage-Give-Away, the Monthly Friendship Dinners through December 2020 and the Christmas Banquet.
We are very concerned about the risks that would be posed to the health of the international students and the volunteers attending those events. We thank you in advance for your understanding of our unprecedented decision, in light of the exceptional circumstances we are living through. In January we will re-examine the situation and decide about the Monthly Friendship Dinners from January through May 2021.
The Princeton ISI ministry is very much alive: it thrives by making impact and bearing fruit locally and globally through the weekly Zoom Global Christian Fellowship, one-on-one zoom meetings, telephone calls, e-mails, texting and WhatsApp….and will continue till December.
We thank you for holding John and Aruna’s hands through your fervent prayers and generous financial support.
“10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. 12 When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.” Exodus 17:10-13 NIV.
